It’s always fun to find out where your old college buddies are at.
A friend of mine had a similar college life to me, he went on to do political advocacy and I went on to the private sector. So imagine my pleasant surprise when we find each other on Facebook a couple years ago, and I found out he gets a large check to start his Community Coalition center in South Central Los Angeles. My memory recalls it at $750,000.
That must be nice, I thought, getting paid to be advocate for poor people. So I kept tabs on this group, Community Coalition. And the longer I kept tabs on it, the less I liked what I saw.
I’ve talked about how March for our Lives was a thinly veiled Democrat campaign – follow the money to the DNC, and follow the words to see they really want to smear the NRA and GOP. Well, here they are funding kids to go speak there.
Check out their other campaigns. Black Lives Matter, huge settlements for schools, you name it.
Now, why do I say this? Well, I was trying to look up the donation my friend was bragging about. Turns out either I was wrong or that wasn’t all. This organization got a $3 million check from the CDC – a government organization – for “tackling health issues.” And there handing the check is Karen Bass.
Can someone please explain to me what any of these issues have to do with tackling health? Shouldn’t they be dealing with something like the homeless epidemic if public disease control was something they were concerned about? You know, that epidemic that’s spreading because of the very hamstrung police this Community Coalition helped create?
You know, let me stop the sarcasm here. Let’s call this CDC grant for what it is. It’s the heyday of Obama era politics – funneling government money into organizations that just go organize and advocate for the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party isn’t winning in California because their ideas are better, or they’re more compassionate than conservatives. It’s because they monopolized the racket. This is why fundraising is not a big issue for me. Because I know I’ll never match my opponent who can just divert millions in government money towards maintaining her own tenure. It’s not a fair game. She’s out pretending she’s the friend of the very poor she’s throwing under the bus by ignoring public safety issues. Meanwhile I have to deal with all these well-funded Democrat groups and foundations out to smear me as Alt-Right.
I’m sure they have fancy lawyers with all that money to say it’s technically legal. And I don’t have the resources to investigate further myself. I just ask you, based on what you’ve seen so far: is this fair? Is this just? Is this moral? The answer is a resounding NO!
This is why we voted Trump. This is the swamp we want to drain. Your tax money is only being used in a neverending racket to fund the rent-seeking, ever-growing state which just leeches off us. Until we break the political monopoly in this state, the swamp will snare us all like so many fossils in the La Brea Tarpits.
UPDATE: Both Gateway Pundit and Teaparty.com have taken up my scoop. I’d like to do some more research on this, if/when I have time. Though this page explaining previous REACH grants is a good one to start with. Seems like previous grant awardees did genuine research on health. Again, not so much under Obama’s heyday.
